Even though we are Christians, we will sometimes slide.

We take our eyes off Jesus and move from by His side.

We look at worldly pleasures and desire them for our own.

We’d like to have a second car or own a brand new home.

We look around at others who are wearing designer clothes.

We wish that our meek wardrobe contained a few of those.

We want plenty of money so we can go and do and buy.

We think we’ll be much happier if we’re like the other guy.

Our thoughts are the work of the devil trying to get us to stray.

We know it’s a sin to covet, and we shouldn’t be thinking this way.

When we lose sight of Jesus, the devil is as happy as he can be.

Our focus is off what’s important. Worldly pleasures are all we see.

These pleasures are only temporary even though we’d feel gratified.

But then we’d try to gain more and more for we’d never be satisfied.

If someone we know does well in their life, we should be happy for them.

If their hearts are right with Jesus, then their blessings came from Him.

As Christians we should be content and let God be our lead.

For His promise is He’ll provide us with everything we need.

As long as we have enough food to eat and a roof to cover our head,

And clothes to warm our body with, there’s nothing for us to dread.

Let us keep our focus on the Lord and let us try to walk His way.

Then we won’t wish for worldly things others have on this earth today.

We may not be living as well as they and don’t enjoy their many pleasures.

But what’s laid up for us above is God’s beautiful heavenly treasures.
