I dreamt a dream the other night

that God took me on a journey.

He wanted to show me two places

where I could choose to spend eternity.

The first place was so very beautiful,

perpetually shining with a radiant light.

There were many mansions everywhere

with streets paved of gold so bright.

The aura was one of compassion and love.

Life seemed so boundless and free.

All the people were happy and smiling.

It was a place one would choose to be.

I saw many people, whom I had known,

who had been gone for many years.

They smiled as they all came to greet me,

for here, there were no tears.

They told me they would be waiting,

for me to come be with them one day.

God had shown me a brief glimpse of heaven.

It was so magnificent I wanted to stay.

God then beckoned me to come with Him,

for He wanted me to see the other place.

We left and entered a dark, dreary land,

so depressing, I covered my face.

It was so hot and people were crying,

and all there were in terrible pain.

No matter where I looked, I saw misery.

But their pitiful cries were now all in vain.

They said, “you don’t want to join us here.

It’s agonizing and the pain never ends.

It’s known down here as the bottomless pit.

We, who are here, didn’t repent of our sins”.

All I could hear was the gnashing of teeth

and the endless groaning of those all around.

I knew I had finally, in person, seen “hell,”

and my choice was to be heaven-bound.

All of a sudden, I awoke with a start,

and my heart was running away.

I said to myself, “ it was only a dream,”

but just what was God trying to say?

I believe the message He tried to convey,

is I alone choose where I will be.

If I repent and accept Jesus as Savior,

my presence in heaven will be God’s gift to me.
