When I awoke this autumn morn,

I went outside to pray.

For I enjoy this time with You,

As I start another day.

The sun had not yet risen,

But dark had turned to light.

As I gazed up at the morning sky,

I saw an awesome sight.

Dark blue formed the background,

With pink tinges all around.

Such beauty and such majesty,

I knew could not be found.

In a painting by a human hand,

Though many artists try.

To capture all the brilliance,

Of the colors of the sky.

In Your hand, You hold the palette,

With these colors bright and bold.

With Your hand You paint the picture,

Of such beauty to behold.

Lord, You are the greatest artist,

That this world has ever known.

And throughout all Your creation,

All Your love for us is shown.
